Google may let you send phone numbers from desktop to smartphone’s dialler for quick calling

Over the years, Google has taken several strides to make its apps and services work seamlessly across platforms and devices. It is planning to take another step towards the same goal this time. As reported by Android Police, Google is now planning to make it easier to make a call to a number that is shown on your desktop. For instance, right now you watch a contact number in a mail, open the dialler in your smartphone and individually dial it to initiate a call. However, Google is not planning to make cut the steps to around a click on your desktop and two taps on your smartphone.

As a part of the Chrome beta version 78, Google now lets you simply right-click on the number seen on the screen. This opens a prompt in the address bar asking you in which device do you want to send the number to. Once you select the device, Google Chrome will then send it to your phone as a notification. All you need to do is to tap on the notification that will auto-paste the number directly in the dialler app, ready for you to make a call.

It is worth adding that this feature works only on those phone numbers that are hyperlinked in Chrome beta v78. If you are already on the same version, copy-paste this link (chrome://flags/#click-to-call-context-menu-selected-text) on your address bar and ‘Enable’ the click to call feature. Also mentioned is that the feature will work on Android 9 and Android 10 smartphones.

On a related note, Google recently launched a Password Checkup feature that it will add to itsd Chrome browser in the coming months. The feature will check if the user’s password has been leaked or compromised on other devices or not.
