Did you update your Aadhaar recently? here’s how UIDAI helps to get copy

An error in Aadhaar can be anything either in name, age, birth date, address, and even biometrics. Recently, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has guided citizens to update their Aadhaar via an official Twitter account.

All the Aadhaar cards issued by UIDAI are encrypted with 12-digit random numbers and are important identification proof for citizens across India. Availing an Aadhaar card is very simple. Any individual, irrespective of age and gender, who is a resident of India, may voluntarily enroll to obtain Aadhaar number. A person willing to enroll has to provide minimal demographic and biometric information during the enrolment process which is totally free of cost.

UIDAI via official twitter account says, “You do not need to wait for your updated Aadhaar letter. Just download it from https://eaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/#/ You can check the status of your update request from https://resident.uidai.gov.in/check-aadhaar-status.”

If you visit the UIDAI website, there will be a section saying Aadhaar update. Once you click it, then you will be directed towards a host of updation which you can make in your Aadhaar card. This is also available for errors. At UIDAI website it says, “Update here refers to any changes as well as corrections, if required, in residents original Aadhaar letter. UIDAI provides three modes for Aadhaar Data Update.”

Any resident with a registered mobile number can update their profile using this portal. Registered mobile number is mandatory to receive password for login.

However, according to UIDAI you do not need to wait for any letter about your updated Aadhaar card anymore. Simply put, you can avail the original Aadhaar card using the above-mentioned link.

Here’s how to do it!

Step 1 – Download your updated Aadhaar from uidai.gov.in

Step 2 – Enter your Aadhaar number or URN as Enrolment Identity Number (EID).

Step 3 – Enter full name and Pincode.

Step 4 – Request for OTP

Step 5 – Enter the received One-Time-Password.
