Black Ops 4 developer Treyarch announced a ton of new details including its Fortnite challenging Battle Royale mode, Blackout. The Blackout’s private beta will be utilized to play and perhaps tweak the player count relaying on user’s feedback. “We’re starting with 80 players, but we’ve gone higher than that,” said co-studio head Dan Bunting.
Presently the most renowned Battle Royale games, Fortnite and PUBG (Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds) have about 100 player count which leaves Blackout 20 short for the time being. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 design director David Vonderhaar opined that the beta will be utilized to assess scale to make the game as refined as it can be.
Blackout’s map is partially similar to PUBG’s classic Erangel battleground, as both of them have a forested terrain divided by a winding river, a firing range, and other such identical landmarks. Besides the similarities, Blackout’s map have some unique locales like the Fracking Tower, Turbines, and, of course, a recreation of Nuketown,
Black Ops 4 confirms Zombies in Battle Royale Mode. Treyarch also informed on details of how these zombies will work in Blackout. The undead will be restricted to several Zombies-mode-inspired locations, like the Asylum and Lighthouse. They drop some necessary things while you kill them and are key to unlocking classic Zombies mode characters. These zombies are dangerous, taking them on will offer you a risk reward..
“The zombies actually drop items for you if you shoot them…usually. The concept of the zombie supply stash is the Blackout equivalent of a treasure chest. But it’s a Call of Duty treasure chest; good stuff’s in it.”
Coming to key details, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 hits PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on October 12 as earlier informed while the beta for Blackout mode releases on September 10 on PS4, Xbox One on PS4, Xbox One on September 14, and PC on September 15.
